Anxiety keeps you stuck, proving the latest fear is right. Learn how content, context and perspective, Warrior, Settler, Nomad personalities, and iStory ERP help you choose a happier life over winning the argument with your mind.
Stop Living Inside the Content
Anxiety and OCD keep you inside the content.
The thought. The image. The sensation. The hob. The look. The sentence that might have been wrong. The mind treats that item as the whole of life, then demands certainty before you are allowed to move.
Content is what the story is about.
Context is everything around it: who you are, what you want, what else is true today, what the body is doing, what the other person can carry.
Perspective is the angle. Same facts. Different meaning.
You will never get the single truth the anxious mind is hunting, because truth depends on content, context and perspective. One man will not wear an unironed shirt. Another never irons. Neither is the law of shirts. One wastes a lot of energy. That is the measure that matters if calmness is the aim.
This is where a simple question cuts through the cleverness.
Do you want to be right, or do you want to be happy?
Being right means winning the argument with the thought, proving the fear was justified, getting the certainty, making the outer world match the inner demand. Being happy means choosing the perspective and the action that make your inner reality more livable, even when the content has not finished its speech.
Stuck people choose right. They try to prove the thought false, make the feeling finish, or get someone to sign the story off. That is why reassurance fades. You cleared today’s item. Tomorrow the filter serves another. Pure OCD is especially good at this. Harm, sex, religion, relationships, the body, existence. Chase the file and you stay the same person with a new folder.
Growth starts when you step sideways into context and perspective, and answer the question honestly. Happy is not a mood you wait for. It is a direction you practise.
Warriors, Settlers and Nomads
Most people with complex anxiety do not have a simple personality. They have a stack of them, and they are often in conflict.
There is the Warrior: driven, direct, wants respect, hates losing control, good at decisions when allowed to make them.
There is the Nomad: playful, creative, restless, wants freedom and novelty, gets anxious when life is too small.
There is the Settler: kind, responsible, wants to be liked, follows rules, avoids rocking the boat.
Many people were trained into Settler mode. Parents, school and culture reward fitting in. The Warrior gets told to stop being forceful. The Nomad gets told to stop being silly. By adulthood a large number of anxious people are living as Settlers while a suppressed Warrior or Nomad is still in there with no job.
That mismatch is not a side issue. It is often the engine.
A Warrior with no purpose becomes controlling, irritable, or stuck in health anxiety and the need to manage every outcome.
A Nomad living a grey life becomes dramatic, distracted, contamination-focused, or creatively blocked, and the OCD becomes the only “interesting” plot.
A Settler trying to please everyone ends up exhausted, guilty, and unable to say what they actually want.
OCD behaviours often tell you which part is screaming. Over-the-top drama often points to a stifled Nomad. Passive-aggressive control and the need to be right often points to a Warrior with nowhere useful to stand. The constant “what will they think of me” is often Settler plus Nomad, all about the image, none of it about the life.
Notice how often “being right” belongs to the stuck Warrior or the anxious Settler. The Warrior must not be wrong. The Settler must not be blamed. Happiness, in practice, often means letting a part stand down so the right part for this moment can lead.
You do not need to become one fixed type. You need the rider to stop letting the horse run three programmes at once. One part at a time. The right part for the moment. The rest wait in the wings.
Where iStory ERP comes in
Standard exposure asks you to face the feared content. That has value. It is incomplete if the rest of your life stays the same.
iStory ERP aims the exposure at who you wish to become and what you desire to do. You change the inner story while you take the outer step. You prevent the old responses: checking, avoiding, reviewing, googling, arguing, seeking reassurance.
For a repressed Warrior, the exposure is often deciding, speaking plainly, taking responsibility, and tolerating not being in total control.
For a repressed Nomad, the exposure is play, novelty, travel, creativity, saying yes to life before the plan is perfect.
For an over-used Settler, the exposure is saying no, disappointing someone, and discovering the world does not end.
The content of the OCD is bait. The real work is living as more of the person you already are under the conditioning. That is choosing happy over right, again and again, in small actions.
So when the thought arrives, you do not only ask “Is this true?” You ask:
Am I lost in the content?
What is the context?
What perspective would a calmer version of me use?
Which part of me is speaking: Warrior, Settler or Nomad?
Do I want to be right about this fear, or do I want to move toward the life I actually want?
What would the person I am becoming do next?
Then you do that next thing while the fear is still present. That is courage. Not the absence of fear. Action toward what you intend and desire.
Becoming the sum of your parts
You are not broken. The unconscious has been using childlike protection, and that protection became self-sabotage. Understanding the problem is not the same as leaving it.
You become someone who can notice the content without living inside it. Someone who can switch perspective. Someone who can bring out the Warrior, the Settler or the Nomad on purpose, instead of being run by the loudest fear of the day. Someone who, when the old demand for certainty rises, can answer: I would rather be happy than right about this.
That is the mash-up. Content, context and perspective give you the zoom-out. Warrior, Settler and Nomad give you the map of who has been missing. iStory ERP gives you the daily practice: expose toward the life that fits, and stop feeding the old responses.
The loop hates that. Good.

These are The Chronicles of Common Sense, forged from facing life directly and learning through real-world experience. They guided me out of anxiety, OCD, bipolar depression and crippling self-consciousness, and helped me become more trusting, energetic, optimistic, self loving and courageous.
This work reaches mind, body and soul. It gives you the tools to step courageously into the unknown. Knowledge only becomes wisdom when we test it through action. Those who act, adjust, and act again (ERP) will always move further than those who stay in thinking and worrying.
What do you desire?
The next action is yours. Take it.
