We are energetic beings living inside an intelligent natural field. How quietening the ego’s noise, raising our capacity and holding clearer intentions allows more of that field to move through us — practical reflections on connection, calm and action.

Nature, Energy & the Field we are Part of…

Most of us were taught to see ourselves as separate units — a brain inside a body, thinking its way through a solid, mechanical world. In this video, I want to explore a different possibility: that we are energetic beings living inside an intelligent field of nature, and that much of what we need is already available once we stop drowning it out with constant mental noise.

Everything we can see and everything we cannot see is made of energy. That energy sits within larger oceans of energy. Trees, people, thoughts, emotions, the ground under our feet — all of it is vibrating, interacting and influencing what happens next. We breathe in what the trees breathe out. Our lungs even look like trees. The idea that we are isolated individuals floating in empty space is, from this perspective, simply outdated.

When I was stuck in the lower energy levels of anxiety, depression, anger and pride, my mind was overwhelmed with thinking, worrying, blaming and self-criticism. That cycle was never broken by thinking harder. It began to loosen when I changed how I interacted with life, became less fearful, and started paying attention to the subtler information that sits beneath ordinary left-brain commentary.

As my behaviour shifted — learning to be kinder to myself, taking new actions, releasing old charge — something else shifted too. The context of situations changed. I stopped taking things so personally. New, quieter senses seemed to come online: a feel for energy, for what was life-giving and what was draining, for common-sense moves that often looked illogical to my old way of thinking but worked in practice.

I began to notice that nature appears to respond to the level we are operating at. When we are contracted in fear, the opportunities that reach us tend to match that frequency. When we raise our capacity — by feeling vulnerable yet still acting, by discharging trapped emotion, by holding clearer intentions — nature seems able to offer more. It is as if there is a symbiotic relationship between the animal, its environment and the wider field of consciousness that links everything.

This is not something I can prove to you in a laboratory. It is something I have experienced, and many calm, creative people I respect report the same. Behind the noisy ego there is a quieter capacity. Authors say the book wrote itself. Artists say the idea just arrived. Engineers wake up with solutions. In those moments, the mind is relatively silent and something else is able to move through.

Babies and animals make effective decisions without endless internal debate. They move toward what is good for them and away from what is not, guided by instinct, energy and immediate feedback. Humans can do something similar once the addiction to overthinking loosens. Clear intentions act like a quiet signal placed into the field. The more consistently we think and act in line with those intentions, the more the environment seems to organise around them — not as magic, but as the natural result of reduced resistance and clearer direction.

Science is slowly catching up with parts of this picture. Epigenetics shows that the environment and our state of mind influence gene expression. Brain plasticity shows how adaptable the nervous system is. Free-will experiments suggest that many of our “conscious” choices are already underway unconsciously before we become aware of them. The amount of pure conscious control we have may be smaller than we like to believe. That can feel threatening, or it can feel liberating. If we are already part of a larger intelligent system, then the useful work is to stop fighting it with fearful stories and start cooperating with it.

A practical image is the Stoic dog on a long leash attached to a moving cart. We have some local freedom, but the cart (life, nature, circumstance) will sometimes pull us in unexpected directions. Anxious people dig their heels in and create drama. Calmer people readjust and keep moving toward what is good for them within the present conditions.

You do not have to believe in anything supernatural. You can treat this as a working hypothesis: we are energetic beings inside an energetic field. The field is intelligent. Our thoughts, emotions and actions influence what we can receive from it. The more we quieten the ego’s fearful commentary, discharge old charge, and act from clearer intentions, the more we become available to the quieter knowledge and opportunities that were always there.

The real you is not the stream of thoughts. You are the awareness that can watch those thoughts, or place attention elsewhere — on the body, on nature, on the next simple action that aligns with the life you actually want.

These are The Chronicles of Common Sense, forged from facing life directly and learning through real-world experience. They guided me out of anxiety, OCD, bipolar depression and crippling self-consciousness — and helped me become more trusting, energetic, optimistic, self-loving and courageous.

This work reaches mind, body and Soul. It gives you the tools to step courageously into the unknown. Knowledge only becomes wisdom when we test it through action. Nature just knows that those who act, adjust, and act again (ERP) will always move further than those who remain stuck in overthinking and worrying.

Thinking is an Inner Reality Imagination. Action is an Outer Reality Event — and once you act, something will happen. The outcome is never fully in your control, but if the action is aimed at what you truly desire, it is always worthwhile.

What is it you desire?

The next action is yours. Take it.

Much love, John
