It’s all about Energy! Viewing life through the lens of energy

In this 62-minute video, we delve into how we can shift from left-brain logic to tapping into our right-brain connection with creativity, nature, and energy.

Since we are made of atoms and atoms consist of energy, we are inherently energetic beings. How can we begin to view ourselves from this fresh perspective?

We also explore how to recharge by surrounding ourselves with high-energy people, environments, and thoughts, while distancing ourselves from influences that may drain our energy.

Energy, Right-Brain Functionality, and Living a More Spiritual Life: Unlocking Your Full Potential

By John Glanvill, Author of The Calmness in Mind Process for Overcoming Anxiety, OCD, and Depression

I’m John Glanvill, author of The Calmness in Mind Process for Overcoming Anxiety, OCD, and Depression. Welcome to video forty-eight in my Calmness in Mind series, where we explore common-sense solutions for a calmer life. In this article, titled Using Energy Wisely to Consciously Become the Sum of Your Parts, Rather Than Unconsciously Being Run by Some of Your Parts, I expand on the interplay between logical intelligence (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ), metaphorically represented as left-brain and right-brain functionality. By embracing both hemispheres and viewing life through an energetic lens, you can reduce anxiety, harness your full potential, and live a more spiritual, connected life. The Conflict Between Left-Brain and Right-Brain Functionality

I propose that logical intelligence (IQ) and emotional intelligence (EQ) represent two ends of a spectrum, metaphorically labelled as left-brain and right-brain functionality, each operating distinctly. To function at our fullest potential, it’s common sense to master the skills needed to have both hemispheres fully engaged and working harmoniously, respecting the diverse value each offers, even if neither fully comprehends the other’s utility.

Most people’s anxiety stems from the conflict of an overdeveloped, conditioned analytical left brain, while their right brain yearns to engage with life, meaning, purpose, creativity, nature, love, or divinity. If this resonates, ask yourself: Am I operating to my fullest potential? By observing life through an energetic lens, you might quiet the brain’s relentless thinking, remove its questions, and adopt a new model to operate from.

In my perspective, there’s no such thing as the ‘mind’—only the mind screen, where the brain broadcasts its varied ideas. This stops you from blaming your mind for indecision, as it’s merely a screen. You must take responsibility for decisions—decision-makers who embrace responsibility get things done. Are you limiting your potential by identifying with your conditioned intellect? Could societal conditioning be subtly training us to ignore the dormant powers of our right brain, rendering us tired, detached, restricted, fearful, and compliant—easy to govern, but not necessarily beneficial for us?

Breaking Free from Conditioned Thinking

What lies beyond the incessant limitations of our logical left brain, across the corpus callosum? Could decisions sometimes stem from logic and reason, and other times from an inexplicable feeling or knowing, as if guided by something external? Like migrating animals, which intuitively read nature’s energetic language without questioning, our life force acts like a magnet, attracting us to opportunities conducive to life and repelling us from harm.

The realisation that there’s no ‘right way’ to do anything was shocking for me. Truth is subjective—what’s true for me may not be for others, yet remains valid. Awakening from this ‘conditioned slumber’, I saw you can do whatever you want in life by letting go of fear-based stories about what might go wrong and replacing them with optimistic ‘lies’ of what could go right, then acting on them, regardless of how it feels. If your unconscious brain lies to you, consciously counter it with optimism, self-love, and placebo—it works!

Breaking free from societal rules binding the ‘sheeple’ required courage. As someone with a complex personality in the 20% who want more, I chose to let that desire guide me energetically, rather than cause inner conflict. Escaping the ‘sheeple pen’ to follow my dreams brought challenges and responsibilities, but exposure to these (via ERP—Exposure and Response Prevention) fostered learning, growth, and meaning. I’d always been free, but societal ‘sheepdogs’—religion, corporations, culture—herded me towards their desires, not mine.

This course is about breaking the unconscious ‘story’ that there’s a right or wrong way to do anything, creating a new, beautiful dream on your mind screen—your inner reality as you wish it to be.

Harnessing Energy to Overcome Fear and Anxiety

Fear and anxiety breed doubt, leading to procrastination, frustration, and doing what you think you ought to do, rather than what you want. This fosters resentment or anger, which either gets stored in your ‘atomic battery’ or erupts in rage when pushed too far. Anger is powerful but destructive if used unwisely, generating drama. We don’t do drama (DDD—Don’t Do Drama). Instead, we conserve energy by fixing problems, accepting them silently, facilitating others to solve them, or detaching lovingly with ‘NMP—not my problem’.

Used wisely, anger’s energy can fuel your intentions. Rather than reacting impulsively, harness anger or fear to bulldoze through outdated problems, release stuck energy, and force change—like ripping off a plaster. Life is too short; things may get messy, but that’s ERP in action. Sometimes, throw everything up in the air and start anew. Life is a game—invite risk and chance. Excitement and fear are nearly the same emotion; only the story and energetic quality differ.

If you were among the last survivors on Earth, you’d act on desire without judgment, guided by energetic tugs towards what’s naturally good, like hunger or shelter. Nature’s silent knowing nudges you towards life-enhancing opportunities and away from draining ones. Those working with animals or nature know this dance with intelligent energy, but many academic or anxious people don’t.

The Energetic Lens: Reconnecting with Nature’s Intelligence

Nature, the universe, or God likely has a clearer picture of what’s needed for the whole than our logical left brain. While we’re the centre of our universe, we coexist with others at the centre of theirs, so their success is ours. Shift from a left-brain ‘what do I want’ perspective to a right-brain ‘what might nature need, and what’s my role?’ Anxious people, long identified with their sympathetic nervous system, are amazed when exploring the parasympathetic realms of rest, digest, and repair, reconnecting to their heart and nature via the right brain.

Your energetic body constantly broadcasts and receives signals, like radar or sonar, sampling the environment for love, nourishment, inspiration, and cooperation, not just danger. We’re born with these senses, like a kitten instinctively knowing what to do, possibly via muscle memory or a collective consciousness accessed through an energy field. What if these senses atrophied because they were never developed, and our right brain wasn’t taught to decode them?

Extra Sensory Perception (ESP)—telepathy, clairvoyance, telekinesis—might be our sixth, seventh, or eighth senses, dismissed by a conditioned left brain as disinformation. At a quantum level, everything is energy. We’re atoms and energy in an invisible sea of fluctuating energy, connecting us like fish in water. Fish swim in shoals, starlings murmur, bees and plants communicate via shared energy fields. Humans, too, live in this sea, but we’ve been taught we’re separate, superior because we think and speak.

Transform from a thinking creature who feels to a feeling creature who thinks. My left brain’s linear logic—‘this causes that’, ‘if unproven, it’s not true’—was misled. My right brain’s non-linear superpowers, though unprovable, feel true. If God exists, communication might be telepathic thought waves. Miracles could involve quantum reassembly of atoms across dimensions, unnoticed in our plane. A mindset shift makes the impossible feasible.

Living from Right-Brain Intuition

If you believe in God, divinity, intelligent nature, or a higher consciousness, ask: Is my left brain’s logic inhibiting my right brain’s connection to source? Right-brain defaults include hope, faith, creativity, trust, desire, passion, and intention—non-linear, unscientific perspectives. Dissociating from my intellect, now used for problem-solving, I’ve connected to an energetic intuition with knowledge that serves me, driven by emotions and awarenesses I can’t prove but feel true. When thoughts and feelings align, good things happen; when they conflict, I trust feelings over thoughts, using intuition for guidance and my left brain for execution.

Energy as the Key to Vitality

In physics, energy is the capacity for work or transfer between bodies, like mechanical energy moving from potential to kinetic. Depressed and anxious people lack energy, motivation, and activity, leading to exhaustion, negativity, and indecision. Exploring the invisible realm of energy may be a missing link to mental health recovery and raising our energetic frequency to stimulate life around us.

Like a gyroscope, starting motion requires effort, but once spinning, it sustains itself, drawing energy from the zero-point field. You can’t see these fields, but they energise your atoms. Activity generates motivation; waiting for motivation while inactive is futile, as it comes from the energy field created by action. Move away from negative energy sources, seek high-energy people and places, and use your body and voice—light and sound—to energise your environment, stimulating it to work for you. For rest, find silent, distraction-free spaces.

Spend time with a low-energy person, and you’ll feel drained; with high-energy, positive people, you’ll feel energised. Years ago, I cringed at loud motivational speakers urging dancing and clapping, feeling embarrassed as a shy introvert. About 80% of anxious people relate; the 20% with nomadic tendencies enjoy it, as their anxiety stems from boredom or restriction, not social fear. Agitating space through movement or speech energises it, feeding back to us, making exercise feel good post-action.

Raising Energy Through Action

Now, I’d use humour to raise energy in speeches, avoiding discomfort. Before speaking, I dance and do breathwork privately to raise my biological energy, hoping to energise others’ fields quantumly. Not all energy is equal—high-frequency fields from exercise or gyroscopes energise us, while low-energy places like prisons or hospitals drain us. Sunbathing, dancing, saunas, cold water, or chopping wood energises us atomically, but without intention, this energy is squandered.

Fifteen years ago, I realised everything is energy—space, atoms, us. The space between prevents us from merging into a dense blob. I tested concepts experientially, not just believing what I was told. Each moment’s energy is life-giving or life-negating, as nature designed for creatures without logic. A dog’s philosophy—“If you can’t eat it, play with it, or shag it, piss on it and walk away”—reflects defining boundaries and moving on. Our under-utilised senses survey for positive or negative energy, but conditioning tells us to ignore them, like sensing a lie without proof.

Enhancing Intuition with Meditation

Try my walking meditation from video 23 with noise-cancelling headphones. Sensory deprivation forces trust and surrender, key to ERP. At junctions, instead of thinking, scan your body for a subtle energetic tug guiding your direction, like a snake sampling the environment with its tongue. Sense the truth of the moment, not past thoughts. Your left brain, friends, and family may resist, but you’re ready to engage nature’s power within and without.

A Chainsaw Example: Energy and Flow States

Using my petrol chainsaw, which terrifies and electrifies me, illustrates this. In the right-brain world, feeling terrified and awesome simultaneously is non-linear and exhilarating. During my anxious years, I’d have avoided chainsaws as dangerous. Now, their danger is exciting when used safely. The heavy machine feels manageable for hours, possibly because its engine’s rotation, friction, and heat create a localised energy field, energising my atoms by exciting electrons from inner to outer shells, leaving me vibrant.

The chainsaw’s danger focuses my awareness, generating a flow state where my brain is silent, and an innate knowing guides my cuts, body position, and hazard avoidance. If something feels wrong, I stop and reassess. It’s as if a supercomputer analyses options millisecond by millisecond, choosing the best, like an orchestra of energy, nature, and synchronicity, with atoms quantumly entangled for optimal outcomes. If I were God, I’d design it this way—common sense.

When someone approaches during this flow state, I sense their presence, expanding my awareness to act appropriately. We’re constantly broadcasting and receiving thoughts, needs, and intentions in our localised energy field, dancing with nature’s game of life.

Living Through an Energetic Lens

Over the past decade, I’ve experienced this so often that I live from a feeling, dreaming perspective, not thinking. My conditioned left brain remains uncomfortable, but I accept it. We weren’t taught this deliberately—if we tapped our holistic potential and surrendered fear, we’d be hard to control. Viewing life through an energetic lens, I stopped asking why, accepted what is, and trusted it was in my best interest. I learned to drop unhelpful brain stories instantly, ignoring signals misaligned with my intentions or responsibilities.

When a neighbour rudely ignored me, I felt a negative energetic tug but chose to think, Poor chap, he’s having a bad day. Later, I learned he’d argued with a friend, and I triggered his anger by association. Per David Hawkins’s Map of Consciousness, he acted from pride (level 175), while I operated from acceptance and forgiveness (level 350). It wasn’t personal—no analysis needed. Energy under 200 is life-depleting; above 200, life-confirming. Negative thoughts lower energy; positive ones, even if ‘lies’, raise it via placebo.

Reframing Death and Embracing Faith

Viewing life energetically drops questions and fears. Imagine death as a beautiful exposure therapy session, the final letting go. Life continues—happy people stay happy, anxious ones remain anxious unless reprogramming. Even if I didn’t believe in an afterlife, I’d train my brain to think there was one to avoid worry and maximise enjoyment. A friend who loves tigers wants to die being eaten by one, a functional transition. Her positive narrative energised me, showing faith’s power. She lets fears pass through, not defining her, maintaining optimism and creativity.

Faith in yourself and nature is surrender—an out-breath, unclenching, accepting what is. I let go of negatives, accept limited control, and influence through engagement. Studying David Hawkins’s Map of Consciousness transformed my life—resistance from your logical brain is sabotage, so persist.

Raising Your Vibration

Consider how the world sees you energetically. When you enter a room, does the energy shift? Do people smile? Are you positive or quiet? The world reflects how you treat it. Raise your vibration—sing, dance, smile, tell jokes, trust, and take chances. Nature loves playful, active optimists, offering them more opportunities. If I were nature, I’d give energy to those living from love and action, enhancing beauty.
