Which (I think) is… How can you get enough energy to change your life when you are already exhausted?
I think these two videos are the most important in the course so far, and much of what I have been teaching has been leading to this point.
You have come this far with me, so please trust me as I introduce new ways of looking at life that your ego might not (initially) feel comfortable with!
All I am asking is that you be sceptical but listen anyway and keep an open mind.
I have purposely split this into two sections to suit people’s differing learning modalities so you can watch one at a time or both of them together. The split point between part one and part two is at the 30:24 minute time stamp.
Part two does go into quite a lot of detail about Dr David R Hawkins’s map of consciousness (a copy of the map can be downloaded below). In my experience, understanding how this works is a game changer and was very instrumental in my finding more energy and calmness.
Those of you already familiar with his work may still find my interpretation very interesting so please still take a look, I am not saying that his work is true, but I am saying that this is an interesting model that (regardless of its truth) gives the mind a new way to look at life, communication and calmness – which was very powerful in my recovery!

I’m John Glanvill, author of The Calmness in Mind Process for Overcoming Anxiety, OCD, and Depression.
I’ve called this video – Time, Desire, and Energy – The Calm Person’s Friends…
Because these three elements used wisely are game-changers when seeking calmness and a deeper connection with life.
Why Energy Matters
I have been itching to make this particular video for about two years now and have had to wrestle with my own egoic brain to make myself wait until this far into the course to discuss one of my favourite (yet most elusive of subjects) – which is energy.
And because lack of time, exhaustion, and anxiety tend to cloud people’s better judgement and sabotage them, I am going to state right (here and now) that I think this is the most important video of the entire course so far.
Encouraging Open-Mindedness
So, I would urge you to be sceptical – but listen anyway – and be mindful of the message I offered you in video 33.
Where I said – it is probably from the knowledge you currently don’t yet possess that will come that which helps you to develop and flourish, rather than rigidly clinging to the existing points of view (which didn’t work so far), this tends to be a limitation of the ego, which usually thinks it’s right!
As such, I try to learn from teachers who believe in something rather than say they know something, as that would infer (to me) that they had stopped learning!
The Value of Time
So, with an open mind, let’s start with time.
I wish I had been told at a younger age how divinely precious a commodity time is.
Learning from Past Procrastination
I only learned much of what I am teaching from the age of thirty-five, which meant that during the first nineteen years of my adult life, I wasted many years procrastinating, putting off big plans due to my fearful, anxious thoughts, my perceived need to be right, to have security, and excessively wanting things to be perfect.
It was quite shocking when I realised that there is only now. And that it’s only what we do in this now that will affect (or create) our next nows (and future memories) in the most significant ways.
Taking Responsibility for Your Time
And that – only I was responsible for generating the conditions of my life. And that time is constantly diminishing. And that it could never be regained or repurchased regardless of how much money or desire I had.
I know those statements are very obvious, but seemingly, I didn’t get that memo growing up – and my school certainly didn’t educate my brain to think in a self-centred and independent manner.
Time Management During Chaos
Did you notice over the last few years of worldwide chaos, some people struggled and became exhausted, whilst others were seemingly unaffected and retained all their energy, joy for life, and got lots of things done?
Personally, I moved house, produced lots of videos, increased my levels of fitness, did lots of carpentry and gardening, spent more time in nature, and made new friends.
And although I didn’t like (or agree with what happened), I didn’t let what did happen – waste my time, detract from my desires, or steal my energy…
Personal Agency Over Time
I am not saying I am right or wrong or that you should copy me.
I’m just saying if you don’t take responsibility for making sensible life decisions now, that will favour your life; other people (or organisations) will make those decisions for you and in their best interest, not yours!
And, is that what you want for your life? “Yes or No?”
You are responsible for your life experiences, and how you interpret those happenings will be your life experience.
Overcoming Procrastination
So, because time (in this plane) is finite, we must use it wisely or become OK with wasting or losing it!
One pattern I often see working with anxious people is that many have plans for their future but not for their now; they so often procrastinate.
This is effectively another way of saying, “I am choosing to delay that which I desire now to a future time.” They then tell me the reasons why they are procrastinating, which usually include fear, exhaustion, lack of finances, being too busy, and not having enough knowledge or resources.
Case Study: The Accountant’s Dream
Let me give you an example; I was talking with a man a few months back who said that when he retired in seven years, he would like to buy a second home and live in a warmer Southern European country during the cold UK winters.
I asked what he did for a living, and he said he was an accountant; “I said do you have to go into an office to work?” He said he used to, but since the lockdowns, he had largely worked from home for the last two years.
I said, “Why don’t you start living your retirement dream now? Spend this winter renting in Southern Europe and just work from wherever you are to see if you like living there?”
He smiled and said – “They probably won’t let me, and being employed in one country and paid in another is such a faff! My company wouldn’t let me do that.”
I said, “have you asked them, as they already let you work from home? Plus, you could become self-employed, and then that international payment hurdle might be more easily remedied?”
He replied, “Actually, that is quite a good idea; perhaps I should ask them?” He added, “My thought systems are so limited; I really need to find ways to think bigger like you!”
Then, he said, “Oh, I just realised my wife wouldn’t be up for moving now as we have a new granddaughter.” Then he said, “Oh, that means she won’t want to move in seven years’ time either!”
Shifting to the Present
Can you see that by bringing his dream forward to the now meant he could see things from a new perspective?
Interestingly, a few weeks later, he told me that he, his wife, and his daughter had spoken at length about the many options, and they were all feeling more optimistic they could find a solution suiting everybody.
Now, I don’t know what will be possible for him. All I am saying is – if you have a dream, or a desire, why wait? Because life is already short and time is always diminishing.
Energising Your Desires
By telling people about your dreams, it will energise them; thus, bringing your desire to the mind-screen and fuelling your imagination, then your emotions will determine if your dream is realistic.
It will also inform you – if that dream will be shared (or sabotaged) by those in your family or immediate environment.
Acting in the Present
So many people want to get fit, lose weight, learn a new language, change their job, decorate the house, get into a relationship – but (knowingly or unknowingly) delay taking action, thinking there will be a right time in the future – when there is only now and that time is always reducing.
Some anxious people think they can’t take action until they have a well-considered plan and all the skills to make that plan happen.
Avoiding the Perfection Trap
But, I think (to a certain degree) this is a trap – because it is possible to start now and learn as you go – and by diving straight in, you limit the time available for your ego to talk yourself out of doing it.
I think it was Richard Branson who said, “Win the contract, then figure out how to do it!”
So, for those of you clinging to stories about perfection or waiting until that imaginary ‘right time’ comes along – you’ll be squandering a lot of energy worrying and wasting a lot of time going nowhere, which, in my book, is a lose-lose situation!
Redefining Perfection
And what is perfection anyway? Surely, from nature’s perspective, everything is perfect just as it is, in every moment.
An acorn is perfect.
An oak sapling is perfect.
A grand oak tree is perfect.
A dying oak tree is perfect.
And a decomposing oak tree reintegrating back into the soil is perfect.
Each phase is the perfect manifestation of that tree in its life cycle in that moment.
Human Perfection
It’s the same with humans, a perfect baby, a perfect teenager, a perfect parent, a perfect older person.
But our egos haven’t been trained to see life that way; they see things as good or bad (perfect or imperfect), right or wrong, instantly putting things into duality, measuring and comparing them – then adding a ‘story’ about that thing.
“Look at that ugly tree; it’s not as beautiful as the others. Why doesn’t the gardener dig it up and plant a better one? I hate it when dying trees are left next to trees in their prime!” Or whatever the ego story might be.
Nature’s Perspective on Perfection
Our egos were trained to be more concerned with the appearance of the situation, whereas, from nature’s perspective, it is about the essence, utility, or energy of the situation.
“It is an end-of-life tree next to a prime-of-life tree…” That’s it! There is no ‘story’ to add. The judgements and stories we add are a ‘human’ thing we were taught to do; no other animal in nature does it, and why should we?
The Emotional Cost of Ego Stories
Because just by adding that one unrequested ego thought, “look at that ugly tree!” sends the brain into all the incessant duality stories of what is pretty or ugly, safe or dangerous, appropriate or inappropriate.
And all those ego duality stories fire off old emotions, like recalling when you fell from a tree and broke your arm, were reprimanded for climbing a tree, or were caught stealing an apple and felt super embarrassed!
Stories, stories, stories, kicking off emotions, emotions, emotions, and it’s exhausting – and exhausted people get anxious and depressed – you know the story by now!
Harnessing Energy for Action
So a question arises. If we can stop wasting time and start working on our desires now, how might we get enough energy to make it all happen – especially if we are currently exhausted?
Obviously, we need to tap into a source of more energy! And that is where I hope to take you with this video.
Understanding Energy as a Universal Force
As I said earlier, discussing energy is such a complicated and (mainly) unknowable subject (even if you are a scientist), but, as ever, what I am going to teach you is not necessarily the truth; however, it is my interpretation of my experiences of what worked for me – therefore, very true to me!
Now, whether we like it or not, everything is energy. All the atoms in our body are held together by energetic forces, and our thoughts, which affect our feelings, are energetic expressions which initiate chemical reactions.
Social Energy Dynamics
If we spend time with a depressed person, we can often feel our energy being drawn from us. Yet, hanging out with a fun, inspiring person may fill us with energy.
We may walk into a room and get a bad vibe, which is the energy of the room interacting with us. Or we may experience an incredible rush from the combined energy of many excited people, like at a sports event or music concert.
Energy Beyond the Five Senses
Interestingly though, although you can probably understand what I am talking about here, our five senses of sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste hardly register those types of energy, do they?
At best, we sense it, like a gut feeling or an inner awareness like, “Oh, I don’t trust this guy – or oh, yeah, there is something about that guy I like.”
Developing Energy Sensitivity
Remarkably, some people can see and sense energy, perhaps they are born that way, or perhaps they learned how to develop those senses.
My experience is we have many layers of senses within our bodies and perhaps within the fields around our bodies, over and above the regular five that we are so deeply familiar with.
Out-of-Body Experiences
I was shocked when I had my first out-of-body experience because as I looked down at my physical body, I could still see, hear, and sense – though those sensing organs were in that body down there!
Perhaps another way of looking at it is. Does my formless energy Observer, Conscious Awareness, Soul, Spirit (or whatever you are calling it) have senses too? It would seemingly make sense.
I was never taught these senses existed, or you might say my ego just said, “don’t be silly!” Therefore, they were never developed within me in those early years.
Trusting Intuition Over Ego
At best, they were a strange gut feeling, an intuition, or a hunch which was typically overwritten or overwhelmed by the body’s main five dominant sensing tools.
I’ve rarely met a person who didn’t experience (at least once) having an inner knowing about something, only to ignore that intuition by listening to the logic and reason of the ego brain – only to discover later their initial intuition was correct.
Nature’s Energy Communication
So, what if that inner intuition (or energy agitation) was nature’s field of energy communicating with all that resides within it?
These days I take my sense of intuition far more seriously than my egoic brain thoughts – because surely nature (which creates everything) knows more than my brain about the needs of the whole in any particular situation.
Aligning with High-Energy Fields
Those individuals who can see, sense, or feel energy seem to move away from (or dissipate) bad energy, then try to align with nature’s high-frequency, high-energy fields, and therefore remain charged and energised to help themselves and others.
The Carer’s Energy Trap
I also theorise that some healers (or carers) who can feel energy (but are forever themselves feeling exhausted) may be held in a looping energy trap.
I don’t doubt that they can sense energy; however, I think sometimes their judgements may be deceived by dense and low-energy attractor fields acting from within them.
These fields are parasitically feeding from their inner energy by forcing them to self-sabotage, thus remaining themselves stuck, and by continually connecting with other low-energy individuals, the energetic parasite may feed continuously from both parties.
Breaking Free from Low-Energy Cycles
Should a person find themselves in this situation, I believe the answer is to step away from healing for a while and take a break to recharge.
Then to focus on raising their inner and environmental energies to a higher frequency, which those lower frequency energy forms can’t handle, causing them to depart and find a new low-density host, as I discussed in video 27 called ‘Letting Go of Your (Metaphoric or Real) Demons’!
Practical Energy-Boosting Strategies
These days I consciously work on raising my energy through finding high-energy people, places, positive mindsets, and behaviours such as trauma release, exercise, and breath-work.
It seems (to me) that below our emotions and the ‘stories’ we limit and scare ourselves with – are nature’s electromagnetic energy fields which influence the seasons, plant growth, animal growth, reproduction, weather, migration patterns, and our intentions.
Connecting with Nature’s Energy Source
All of nature seems directed via some incredible source of knowledge that all plants and animals are intrinsically tuned into, which we might call nature, instinct, God, the Godliverse, Source, or the Field.
I believe we ought to be primarily connected with this source of energy and knowledge, and then secondarily, listening to our egoic intellect on how best to perform within it. Which is quite the reverse of how I was in the past when I had my anxiety and OCD!
Transformative Energy Experiences
I have been in high-energy locations like pyramids, where I have been knocked off my feet by energy fields and had energy flowing through me (like being plugged into the mains).
Where afterwards, I was different. It had changed me. Something had upgraded me – and the low-energy traumas within me could not handle that high frequency and just shot out of me in purges of vomiting, shaking, or massive discharges of energy streaming out of me.
And though scary at the time, they were cathartic and cleansing, leaving me calmer and without those old emotional parasitic baggage’s like anger and depression.
Applying Energy Insights Practically
Hopefully, this course is condensing my real-life experiences into perspectives and actions you can take without having to travel through Asia, and South America and spending weeks living in the Amazon rainforest, although why not?
This is why I have been asking you to see ERP, not as scary anxiety, but as the positive procedure of trapped potential energy being released from within you, as kinetic energy, via the agitation of your matter, in a safe environment.
And if you are smart, you’ll label this as discomfort rather than fear – as you become (energetically speaking) less dense and of a higher frequency, thus moving out of the lower energy fields into the more positive higher energy ones.
Embracing the Energy Perspective
I know this might sound crazy – but it is what I found to be true, and that is why I am sharing it with you and asking you to at least keep an open mind.
If we were to look down on our lives from a 10,000 ft perspective – we’ll see quite clearly that we need nature much more than nature needs any of us!
Nature will get on just fine whether we are here or not. We are dependent on nature and all its energy-based support systems like food, air, water, temperature, weather, animals, and other people!
Humans Within Nature
We are part of nature and influenced by nature, though our egos tell us we are separate from it! Sometimes we just have to smile at the innocence and naivety of our poor little ego!
Notice, too, that as we step into happy, high-energy attractor fields, we move more, have a bounce in our step, dance around, raise our voices, sing, and feel good. But when in low-energy fields, we move less, complain more, and feel bad.
Energy Interactions in Relationships
Nature drives animals, plants (and us) through invisible energy attractor fields, and each creature has its own energy attractor field too.
That’s why non-verbal creatures like dogs, cats, and babies pick up on energy fields and can sense if you are happy or sad.
We are affected by the field we reside in, and we affect those around us with the energy fields we emit. Animals and children always make a beeline for those individuals with a loving, safe, and high-energy field as they can instinctively sense them.
A calm parent’s field calms the child’s energy field, whilst an angry, shouty parent’s field will agitate their child’s field – there is a powerful energy transaction acting beneath what is said and done.
Sub-Atomic Energy Connections
Do you remember those videos I showed you in video 17 about how sub-atomic energy and attractor fields are the life forces that hold all our atoms together, and when we die, that energy slips off elsewhere, and the atoms fall back into the earth for reuse as something else.
I am asking you to begin to explore how you might look at life in terms of energy (as well as) what people say and do?
Can we dance within nature’s energy fields and whip them up into a powerful field which will reach out to influence and energise that around us to vibrate at that same higher frequency?
Energy in Everyday Life
We all know people who are like Tigger; they bounce around, wave their arms, talk loudly, and generate a big energy attractor field that feels good, and that energy upgrades other people’s energy fields and sweeps them along into taking action.
Jen’s Happy Dance
Jen told me that after a job interview, she left the office and walked to her car parked outside, and because she felt she had done well in the interview, she did a little happy dance before she got in her car.
She was offered the job, and once she started, her boss told her that he had been looking out of the window and saw her do that little happy dance, and that was one of the reasons he had hired her!
Low-Energy Dynamics
Equally, we all know people who are depressed (and unknowingly closed down); they move slowly, sigh, and complain – and their dense, fearful low-frequency attractor field tries to pull energy from them, and it feels bad.
Put simply, nature’s high-energy attractor fields fuel life and make you feel good, and low-energy attractor fields suck the life from you and make you feel bad! One is good for your intrinsic health, and the other is not!
Seeing Life Through an Energy Lens
Can you begin to see how life’s transactions can look differently through the lens of energy?
I hope you can see what I am pointing to as this is really important – anxious and depressed people say they have no energy (and that is true) but don’t do the very things that would raise that natural energetic attractor field.
Practical Steps to Raise Energy
Let me give you an example; happy people get up and dance, and through those dance movements, singing, and being in close proximity to others doing the same, a huge energetic attractor field is created by all that energetic movement that is greater than the sum of the parts of all the individuals.
And if you stand by the music speakers, you can feel that energy vibrating through you – energising you, changing your inner frequencies.
It makes them feel great, and they can dance all night without getting tired as that field is supplying all the energy they need at that moment.
Overcoming Resistance to Energy-Boosting Activities
Yet, often, if you ask an exhausted, anxious, or depressed person, they’ll say, “I don’t want to dance, I’m too tired, you go ahead without me, I don’t feel like it…”
But if you can drag them up there, once they are moving and their energy levels get energised, once they step into that high-energy attractor field, they soon begin to feel great.
Of course, they do! – They have unknowingly reconnected with all the energy that is available, but their old ego stories were talking them out of doing it because the ego is not aware of how nature’s energy works.
Encouraging Positive Energy Habits
This is why anxious and depressed people need to go out more, hang out with happy people, take exercise, speak louder, sing, dance, and communicate in more positive and happy ways – even though initially they won’t feel like doing it or may feel embarrassed as that way of being might be new to them.
Limiting Exposure to Low-Energy Environments
Also, if health and happiness are your goals, you must find a way to limit the time you spend with sad, depressed, and negative people.
Especially if you are a carer, or work in low-energy environments, homes, hotels, hospitals, offices, or spend lots of time with those who are stuck in their stories of the past or are wallowing in pain, grief, or doing lots of drama.
Because these low-energy fields will be affecting your health, biology, and your thought fields negatively.
Raising Your Energy Shield
Or can you find ways to raise your levels of energy to such a high state that their negative fields can’t affect you, and this is where I am going in this next part of this video?
Shifting to an Energy-Based Mindset
I know this is a very weird and complicated subject, but unless you can modify your old human egoic belief systems to a new, more inherent nature-based one, your ego will be looking for answers to questions that are just not relevant.
Energy in Relationships
For example, if you were to ask someone, why do you love that person? They can give you lots of logical egoic brain answers, but the truth is you like being in their energy field; it makes you feel good, and it energises you – it’s very simple, really!
And how might you get your partner back into that wonderful love energy field they were in when you first met – perhaps by focussing your energies on them now to the degree you did in the beginning?
Can you see it is an energy interaction?
Essence Over Appearance
So as we get more out of our thoughts and into the energies beneath our emotions, we have to learn to distinguish the subtle differences between the appearance of a thing and its true energetic essence.
I suppose that is why we still love even (so-called) ugly dogs and cats? Because their appearance is trumped by their invisible loving, energetic, and natural essence.
Pause for Reflection
OK – let’s take a quick pause – because this is pretty heavy content, and your unconscious brain may likely need to switch to some new contexts and some new perspectives.

Understanding Energy and Consciousness: A Guide to Personal Growth
Introduction to Energy and Consciousness
OK, welcome back to video 37, part two – where we discuss how you use time, what you desire to do, and how to gain enough energy to achieve it.
In part one, I oriented you towards thinking in terms of energy – contemplating that nature works on (and through) us via electromagnetic attractor fields, which influence the expression of life through matter.
To me, my identity as Spirit or Self with the big ‘S’ is intrinsically part of that nature and is far more powerful than the brain’s limited egoic identity of self (with the little ‘s’), but nobody taught me that when I was at school or growing up!
Dr David R Hawkins and the Map of Consciousness
Throughout this course, I have often referenced the work of Dr David R Hawkins, and I haven’t found any other teacher whose work describes what energy might be (and how it might work) in such an understandable format – and I’d like to share with you my interpretation of his work.
But there is one big caveat here – when it comes to understanding energy, nobody has all the answers, so what we need is a sensible structure that ‘seems’ plausible, that we can use to combat the ego’s ‘doubt’ and fear of not knowing, which causes most anxiety.
Hawkins was a medical doctor, a psychologist, a theologian, a research scientist, and reached energetic levels that we might call enlightened, so I think he is worth listening to!
Exploring the Map of Consciousness
Hawkins collated all his research and created his Map of Consciousness, which attempts to describe how energy attractor fields might operate and affect us.
Hawkins states that energy fields can simply be broken into two groups: those energy fields which support and nurture life, shown by the upwards arrows from the level of courage, which calibrates at 200 – and those which are detrimental to life, shown by the downwards arrows beneath 200.
All cells, creatures, plants, and millions of years of evolution have conditioned all atoms (and cells) to distinguish between good or bad energies outside our primary five-sense perception.
Like if you smell some food and instantly know not to eat it, though you don’t know why. It’s how we survived before we had the clever thinking egoic brain – and it is how animals survive to this day.
So, it’s not a huge leap of faith to consider that if it was how evolution initially designed us to be, then those systems will still reside within us, though they may have been swamped by our ridiculous (as nature would see it) human ideas of logic and reason.
Overcoming Guilt and Negative Energy
Let me give you an example; as I’ve said many times, guilt is just self-abuse; you are punishing yourself many times each day for a single thing you did once, many years ago, which most people don’t even know about!
Or you are believing another person who is trying to guilt you rather than saying, “If you keep trying to make me feel bad, I will have to remove myself from your presence as an act of kindness to myself!”
From nature’s perspective, guilt would seem unloving, controlling, and absurd – any other of nature’s creatures being exposed to that low-energy behaviour would just bite the aggressor or move away from them out of instinctual self-preservation.
Understanding the Energy Levels
OK, back to the Map of Consciousness – allow me to try and explain it as best I can. And remember, this is just a model (but one I like) which makes sense and gives me a structure I can follow – and, so far, it has been uncannily accurate for me.
The energy levels start at 0, which indicates death or, you might say, the absence of life energy, and they rise up to 600, which represents the transition away from the fearful ego sense of self (with the small ‘s’) to alignment with your Spirit or Higher Self (with the capital ‘S’) based in love, trust, and optimism – rather than fear, doubt, and control, which (as you know) can be exhausting.
The Power of Logarithmic Energy Scales
These energy levels of 0 to 600 are based on a mathematical log scale, meaning 200 is not twice the power of 100.
It means 100 (to the tenth power), which is 10×10, 100 times, whereas 200 is 10×10, 200 times, so almost incomprehensibly more powerful!
Each step up through these levels of consciousness indicates an enormous increase in the energy available to you from nature’s energetic attractor fields.
If you want to know more about where these numbers come from, I suggest you buy Hawkins’s first book called Power versus Force.
Energy Fields and Their Impact
Dr Hawkins states that below 200, an individual within those negative fields – their thoughts will default to victim mentality perspectives – causing them to force things to happen.
Like the depressed person having to force himself to get out of bed, the anxious person has to force others to reassure them or to control others so they don’t get upset.
This forces them to use lots of energy when not much energy is available to them in the first place.
Whereas from 200 upwards, there is no need to force anything – because it’s very powerful just to love and accept as opposed to fearing and controlling.
It’s very powerful to be optimistic; it takes no energy, “Yes, I think that’ll work. Let’s give it a try?” And it is very powerful not to take personally what others say (or do) to you – that’s their problem, not yours!
You are not having to force things to be a certain way for you to feel OK. You are choosing to feel OK regardless of what happens.
Positive Energy and the Law of Attraction
Can you see how these new ways of functioning hardly use any energy? Plus, you are also residing in a more positive field of higher energy (due to your thought patterns) should you need to draw some energy in.
For those of you interested in the Law of Attraction, you’ll see from this model why it works so much better for those with positive, conscious mindsets above 200 – as they already have access to higher-energy attractor fields which may energise their intentions.
Just by being in these higher-level energy fields (through changing the way you consciously think and behave), you will always be pulling towards you that which resonates at the same level.
This is why it seems that happy people attract more luck, and depressed people attract more misfortune – because, from nature’s perspective, that is what is happening!
We unknowingly pull to us that which is at the same frequency as us. Therefore, it makes sense to rise up through the levels by changing our conscious awareness, having positive intentions, and venting trapped trauma from within us.
Global Consciousness Calibration
On the right-hand side of the chart, you can see how the population of the world calibrates. Across the whole world, 78% of people calibrate less than 200, whereas, in the UK and the US, about 49% of the population are below 200.
Though there are fewer individuals at the higher levels, due to their (log-based) higher energy fields, they offset many people at the lower levels, thus raising the average for the world.
Personal Motivation Through Consciousness
Lots of people ask me how I motivate myself. My answer is very simple: rather than trying to change the world or help everybody, I work on myself to raise my level of consciousness as high as possible.
Because those higher energy levels feel nice, they help me to produce better work, attract better opportunities, and just by working on myself, I am raising the average for the world – therefore, it imbues a deep sense of purpose within me.
Navigating the Lower Energy Levels
So, let me take you through the map and pull out the salient points so you can decide whether or not to study Hawkins’s work further, though I would wholeheartedly tell you it was a radical game-changer for me in my process of finding calmness, purpose, and direction.
Starting at the bottom of the chart with shame, guilt, and apathy – you can see that this is an energy field that comes from hopelessness, despondency, and depression.
There is only just enough power to stay alive or to fuel a slow passive suicidal pathway by the neglect of reversible states like loneliness, boredom, alcoholism, diabetes, and obesity.
It is actually the individual’s energy field that is influencing how they unconsciously think and behave. It’s as if that negative energy field sucks away that person’s spirit or will to live.
They are consumed by the ‘feeling’ of negativity, shame, guilt, humiliation, poor self-esteem, and low self-worth.
The energy fields of 20 to 50 instigate thoughts of self-rejection, unworthiness, and failure, which makes the person shrink and want to hide away from life, with thoughts of “I’m not worthy, who’d want to hang out with me?”
Reversing Negative Mindsets
However, these shrinking egoic fears of shame, guilt, and apathy may be reversed if the person is prepared to consider that this perspective is a self-abusive and unloving victim mindset.
What I need you to grasp is that the energy field you reside in (which you are influencing through your thoughts and behaviours) is perpetuating the very energetic field that subsequently attracts to you your health, your social connections, and life opportunities – which ultimately are the manifestation of your life.
To break out of these lower states, we must acknowledge that the ego thinks its happiness is based upon pleasure coming from something (or somebody) outside of itself.
The person feels powerless and is experiencing feelings of victimhood. It’s as if they feel they have lost their source of happiness.
Embracing Self-Responsibility
But if you can consciously orientate yourself into a new perspective of realising that you are the captain of your own ship, and though it is scary and fearful, it is possible to navigate forwards.
Based on Henley’s poem Invictus – somebody adapted it to read…
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am captain of my ship and master of my Soul
This is such a powerful and high-energy mindset to contemplate.
Moving from level 50 of apathy to 100 of fear can now be seen as a positive stride forward rather than a scary one!
That person is now in a state of fear rather than depression, and although horrible, fear and anxiety are a higher energy than depression – as it has movement within it, you can move towards fear or away from fear, whereas depression is so very motionless.
Progressing Through Energy Levels
From this higher energy of fear, you can leverage the next level of desire at 125.
Can you see that we should always be looking to the next higher energy attractor field to guide our decisions rather than the existing or lower fields?
From the energy field of desire (which controls much of the planet), it orientates them towards something they want, like a job, relationship, car, jacket, lifestyle, or whatever they crave, but of course, they must still recognise that they are enslaved by that desire and may be disappointed if they don’t get it.
That’s why I like people to have intentions, compass settings – where they say, “I’m heading in this direction and let’s see what happens as I take action towards that!”
Managing Negative Thought Patterns
Let me say this again as it is so important…
Your brain is being coerced into these negative thought patterns by the energy field that it is experiencing.
Typically, anxious people try to consciously manage their unconscious thoughts rather than consciously adopting the mindset of a naturally higher energy field.
It’s almost as if the brain is an aerial that can receive information from nature, but the knowledge they receive is only concordant with the energy that person can handle.
This is why we embrace ERP so that we can handle more discomfort, therefore, can handle more opportunities too, thus making us of more value to nature.
It’s not as if, as they escape anxiety, life’s problems go away; in fact, they become bigger (because they require action) but now they can handle them and enjoy being part of creation.
From Desire to Anger
As the individual moves up from desire at 125 to anger at 150, this rise in energy is very powerful, though often confusing.
Anger (though still a negative energy) has much more energy than grief, fear, or desire. The person gets fired up and says, “I’m not accepting that anymore!” or, “No, I won’t, I won’t do that!”
Suddenly the person wants something better for themselves; therefore, that old frustration plus the new energy of anger elevates them through action to the level of 175, which is pride.
Once again, though this is a higher energy field than fear, it is still under 200 and negative. This is the level of inflation and arrogance, and often the person is unteachable and has a closed mind.
They step into duality, meaning because they think they are right, so they must defend against those who might prove them wrong; therefore, they are constantly acting defensively and expecting an attack.
Seeking Higher Energy Guidance
I believe we should always look to the energy field above our current station for guidance. Therefore, a person at level 175 of pride might look up to the level of courage at 200 for inspiration.
At this beautiful level of courage, negative energy transitions to positive energy. It’s where truth and integrity begin to become a driving factor in the person’s life.
They truthfully say, “Actually, I don’t know what will happen or if I am right or wrong!”
This is no longer a victim’s perspective – they are no longer defending themselves or blaming something or someone else.
They are standing in their own truth and accepting the absolute truth of that situation. And who says they should know what to do? Who said they should have all the answers? We are here to learn, to step out into the great unknown and just experience what happens!
It’s very powerful stuff.
Courage and Action
In that energy field of courage, it allows them to take action; they can say no to a person, ask someone out on a date, or request a pay rise.
Though they may still feel nervous, they have enough positive energy to handle that discomfort as it is in their self-truth to be in a relationship and in their self-worth to be paid appropriately.
As they further step into their divine truth (as opposed to their brain’s egoic fears), the field increases to 250, and this is called neutrality.
Here the primary emotion is being non-attached; if it goes your way, great, and if it doesn’t, that’s fine too!
You are no longer a victim, and this is a very powerful state, as the ego is no longer adding stories of lack – everything is just what it is!
Embracing Neutrality and Willingness
This is the beginning of the feeling of freedom; if it goes your way, good, and if it doesn’t, that’s fine too. But though freeing, it lacks the feeling of aliveness.
If you say to a person at the level of neutrality, “Where shall we eat tonight?” They’ll say, “I don’t mind.” And, though that is easygoing and better than fearful, it’s hardly energetic or inspirational!
At level 310, we step into willingness, and this is a powerful field, and the associated energy field floods the brain with the concept of aliveness, hope, optimism, and self-propulsion.
This means that person is no longer resisting life; they are willing to step into it to see what will happen. They embrace life, become open to life, and the realisation that there is so much to learn and experience.
Acceptance and Inner Transcendence
Suddenly, they find themselves in nature’s energy field of acceptance at 350 – and because they are thinking and behaving differently by optimistically trusting themselves and the world, an inner transcendence occurs.
The individual begins to own the fact that (of course) they are the source of their own happiness (how could it be any other way?)
They become more realistic, accept their strengths, and smile at their weaknesses; they say, “I am happy to help you start that project, but you know me, I’m not a finisher, so you might want to ask Mary over as she has incredible attention to detail and likes to finish things!”
Can you see that in this powerful energy field, pride doesn’t get in the way; the person sees the world as it is rather than how the old ego wishes it would be?
If a person at the lower levels of guilt or shame were to be thrown into prison, they may sink into depression or take their own life; however, at level 350, you accept what is and decide to knuckle down and use that time wisely to get a degree or write a book.
Life is – as life is, and they dance with it. Certainly, they begin to trust it more. And this is very sensible because, at these higher levels of energy, nature seems to be very benevolent. Why wouldn’t it be? It’s just nature supporting itself through those willing to engage with it.
The Power of Reason
At energy level 400, they step into the energy of reason, logic, and understanding; it is often the realm of science, medicine, politics, and comprehension. This energy field imbues the brain with the power to handle large amounts of data and draw reasonable conclusions and to be able to communicate effectively.
However, there is a limiting side too at level 499, which is, as the intellect becomes more clever, logical, and rational, it ingrains itself into the Newtonian perspective world of cause and effect, which assumes that unless we can scientifically prove something, then it can’t be true.
It’s like an atheist saying if you can’t prove there is a God, then there isn’t a God.
But how could you prove something that does not exist in matter? Science works on that which can be touched and measured in this realm, but love is real, and that can’t be proved or measured as it seems to be an energy field.
Embracing Love and Beyond
To expand to level 500 of real love entails the acceptance that there is much we don’t know.
How did that woman lift that tree off her trapped child? In a field under 499, the person says, “That’s an interesting story, but I need more proof.”
Above 500, the person says, “Yes, she pulled the required energy she needed from nature’s field to save that child – because love is such an empowering positionality!”
At the energy level 500 of love, the brain begins to naturally release endorphins and opens banks of neurons that ensure that person is just a loving person!
That love takes no positionality and dissolves negativity by reconceptualising it rather than attacking it; it supports and nurtures life and is the beginning of true happiness.
This state is reached by around 1 in 250 people, therefore, is very achievable for those with an open mind and a clear intention.
At energy level 540, that love becomes unconditional and is accompanied by joy and ecstasy. This is the energy level of true healers, advanced spiritual teachers, and saints.
There is a huge capacity for patience and a persistently positive attitude, and their energy has a notable effect on others.
At this level, it must be pointed out that it is the field (or nature) working through them that is affecting others, not the individual themselves, and we may label that as Divinity, Nature, or Source acting through them.
Enlightenment and Higher Consciousness
At level 600, we fully step into the Self with the big ‘S’ – and we might call the state enlightenment or illumination, but as that is extremely rare, we’ll leave that for another day!
Hawkins proposes that most people only move 5-10 points in a lifetime because they are so trapped in the conditioned “I am” story they have about themselves – rather than wondering how they can grow and change to be all they can be in this lifetime.
However, those actively following processes like this often make giant leaps up in this one lifetime. I moved from the bottom half into the top half over the last 15 years, and my experience of life fully supports everything I am sharing with you here.
I found this process brought a breath of fresh energy into my life, just when I needed a new way of thinking to interrupt my old anxious thought processes.
Practical Steps to Raise Your Consciousness
You don’t have to believe all this; I am just saying this is what helped me enormously, and I have found this to be a very sound model – and I would advise you to do the research and check it out for yourself!
If this information is triggering you, or your ego is already shooting it down, as ever, I would suggest you look deeper, as remember, your anxiety wants you to be stuck in fear, so any perceived solution is usually unconsciously sabotaged!
Hawkins suggests that we are born with a certain preset level of consciousness from our previous lifetimes (as if it were tied into Karma), so you may be born at 100 or 400, and then it is how you were conditioned to see life (and your environment) that may have dragged your level down or raised it up.
Then we circle around each lifetime until we reach level 600, where we are then of use to the higher planes of nature or the Godliverse.
I like that model regardless of its truth, as it gives me something to aim for.
Recommended Resources
Though Hawkins has written many books, one of the most accessible audiobooks is called The Ultimate Hawkins Library, and I would definitely suggest you have a listen.
We move up through these levels by changing our thought systems, our belief systems, our values, our behaviours, having intentions, and most importantly, taking action!
Each time our thinking changes, we connect with a higher energy attractor field, which automatically gives us access to more energy and seems to open the brain up to mindsets and information which aligns with that level of consciousness.
It can be an interesting exercise to see where friends and family members calibrate, as this will give you insights into their fears and motivations.
Hawkins’s Key Observations
Finally, I’d like to list a few of Hawkins’s observations that I find intriguing…
He says that your time of death is preordained, not the how, just the when! Therefore, you’ll stay alive until you die, no matter what you eat or do – you can live healthily or unhealthily, active or inactive; these attitudes will affect the quality and experience of your life; however, you’ll still die at that same time!
I suppose (if that’s true) it explains why some people smoke but don’t get ill, why some people are healthy but die young, and why some infants die – who knows?
In my world, I like concepts like this, regardless of their truth, because if I can consciously train my unconscious brain to believe them, then it will feel safe; therefore, it will stop its fearful worrying!
He says that we are all already enlightened – meaning the high-energy attractor field at level 600 is all around us waiting for us to step into it, but our current thoughts, behaviours, karma, and frequency – restrict access.
We can see this in action when a person takes certain drugs or has a near-death experience. That person’s worries and fears are pushed aside, and they experience the oneness, silence, knowingness, and ecstasy of this super high-energy field.
Momentarily they are enlightened, and once they experience those ineffable states, they desire to return more than anything else.
Therefore, they need to learn how to become that person who vibrates at those levels naturally. Yes, the drugs artificially (and temporarily) showed them what was possible – but nature will never let you in until you become that which naturally aligns with nature.
Self-Responsibility and Growth
Finally, he says that nature is not judging you; there is no judgement day – because every day is your self-judgement day.
Nature brings to you that which you attract, by who you have become. As you rise into the higher attractor fields of love, your life becomes more heavenly, and if you regress into those lower fields of guilt and shame, life becomes more hellish!
Once again, I love that perspective of self-responsibility for your own growth and your own life experiences!
Conclusion and Next Steps
OK, lots to think about – and you will be amazed at what you discover if you rewatch these two videos a few times! Repetition, repetition, and more repetition!
So, a quick summary…
I am encouraging you to see time as something we mustn’t waste regardless of how we feel.
We do this by bringing our dreams and desires into this moment rather than waiting until things are different by planning less and taking more action.
I am inviting you to explore that nature’s energy can be readily accessed through movement and mindset. It is by agitating the space around you with your body, sound, and positive thoughts that you will stir up a more high-energy attractor field that will fuel you and positively affect others.
I would absolutely advise you to download the audiobook – The Ultimate David Hawkins Library from Audible, and for those of you familiar with his work, I would suggest his book Transcending The Levels of Consciousness – which is one of my all-time favourite physical paper books.
Keep an open mind, trust me (but remain sceptical), and become fascinated with seeing life in terms of energy – and raising yourself up through the levels of consciousness where happiness and a quiet mind are the natural states – and where the synchronicity of nature abounds.
